Welcome to the Sydney Live Steam Locomotive Society Covid-Safe Running Arrangements!

Sydney Live Steam Locomotive Society is excited to announce the return of our very popular Steam Train Rides following enforced cessation for 12 months due to Covid Restrictions.

Regrettably at this time, under the terms of the Covid Safe Permit issued by the NSW Government, SLS is unable to offer Picnic Facilities, Kiosk or reserved space in the grounds for gatherings such as Birthday Parties. A number of procedures are now in place to ensure high standards of hygiene for our visitors and volunteers alike and we have been required to adopt a very different approach to provide rides to the public. It is our great pleasure to invite you once again to enjoy the steam train rides proudly provided by our volunteers on the 3rd Saturday afternoon at Darvall Park, West Ryde each month.

To enjoy a train rise you must book in advance. Visitors without a completed booking will not be permitted to enter. Each booking costs a minimum of $48 for up to 6 people. More than 6 persons is only possible where some of your party live in the same house, and we rely on you to assess this. You may book up to a maximum of 18 persons, at an additional $5 each.

Each booking will enjoy TWO train rides of a longer duration than during normal opening. Your entire group will need to arrive just before your booked travel time, so we can check you in and let you proceed to the station. Full details of the process are found on the booking form.

There are only 24 bookings available each running day, with two bookings for each time-slot. Bookings open approximately two weeks before the day and will close once we are fully booked. Booking availability can be checked HERE!

Once you have checked if a suitable time-slot is available, please download our booking form from HERE! and follow the instructions. (Hint-Download and save the form. Then open it, complete your details, save again then attach to the email.)

We do hope you will continue to support Sydney Live Steam Locomotive Society in these difficult times. Please keep in mind that this is a major change to the way we operate, and we are learning as we go. We are all looking forward to the day we can return to normal operations.

We require train passengers to wear fully enclosed footwear. Please don't be disappointed! Appropriate footwear reduces the risk of injury!
